Zakat is an annual mandatory tax in Islam that Islamic law requires each Muslim to pay from his property and income. All independent, free, capable adult Muslims must pay zakat, and the proceeds go to a fund to help those co-religionists who are in need. Zakat is paid from a part of the property and money of a Muslim in favor of certain categories of needy people, the amount of deduction from money is 2.5%.

Zakat is not just a tax, in Islam it is the most important socio-economic institution, which is designed to affirm the principles of justice in a Muslim society, which affects many aspects of life in society. The payment of Zakat means according to Sharia that the acquired wealth of a Muslim and his income are not sinful. In many countries, charitable organizations collect and distribute zakat.

The “Yardem” National Islamic Charitable Foundation collects and distributes Zakat and Ghushur funds annually. The Foundation takes care of people with various health restrictions - blind, deaf, with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, wheelchairs and musculoskeletal disorders.

As part of the campaign "Road of Life", which has been held since the beginning of April 2020, volunteers and fund employees deliver ready-made meals for the poor and needy every day.
